The beginning of May was blessed with bright sunshine and more frequent visits from the young adult male fox. He continued to spend time on the local roof tops, but also explored the garden during the day. Daytime visits are always a bonus. By mid May the rainy season had returned, which reduced the number and length of his visits. But the real excitement came towards the end of the month with the first opportunities to photograph this year's fox cubs. Well one of them anyway. Two other points of note. First, the adult male sustained an injury. In the photos from 28th May you can see a bloody wound on his head. It turned out to be two large but separate wounds, clearly not mange. It's possible they are the result of hedgehog ticks (he had a close encounter on 22nd May), or possibly an attack by seagulls. The wounds are shown more clearly in the last two photos in this album. The other sighting of note was a strange fox on 28th May, possibly the vixen but certainly very shy and extremely difficult to photograph. |
